My Love Letter to Coffee: The Homemade Sips That Never Disappoint

Let me just say this right out the gate:

I don’t drink coffee to wake up — I drink coffee to become myself.

There’s something sacred about that first sip. That deep inhale of roasted goodness. That pause between chaos and clarity.

Coffee isn’t just part of my routine — it’s part of my identity.

It’s one of the things that holds me together when I’m multitasking five lives. It’s comfort in a cup. It’s joy on a Monday. It’s peace with a little kick.

And while I love a cute café moment, truth be told?

My favorite coffees are the tried-and-true ones I make right at home.

So let me take you on a little tour of my favorites — from instant to pods to a good old-fashioned boiled brew.

Folgers Classic Roast Coffee in a cozy kitchen

1. Folgers Classic Roast (Instant Coffee)

Let’s not act brand new.

Folgers is that girl. Reliable. Warm. No-nonsense. Just a spoonful, some hot water, and suddenly I’m functioning.

There’s something about the flavor that hits the nostalgia button.

It reminds me of mornings when life was simpler and caffeine didn’t feel like a lifeline. It’s smooth, not bitter, and gives me that classic coffee smell that feels like home.

Pro tip: Add sweetened condensed milk, and a dash of cinnamon? You’ve got yourself a vibe.

Donut Shop Keurig Pods K-Cup Pods

2. Donut Shop Pods (Keurig)

Listen — Donut Shop Keurig pods are the reason I believe in easy elegance.

They’re the perfect middle ground between full-bodied and mellow, and they give that classic diner-coffee energy (but elevated).

It’s smooth, strong enough to feel like “yes, this is coffee,” but not so bold that it tastes like burnt ambition.

It’s the pod I reach for when I want a café experience in my robe and bonnet.

Also: it pairs well with every mood — whether I’m journaling, emailing, or just staring into the void with a cookie.

Hong Wing Premium Ground Coffee Caribbean classic

3. Hong Wing (Boiled Coffee, Trinidad Classic)

Now this is tradition in a cup.

If you’ve ever smelled Hong Wing bubbling on a stovetop, you already know — this is not play-play coffee.

Boiled strong and rich, this coffee is for those mornings when I need to feel like a Caribbean matriarch making decisions.

It’s earthy, full-bodied, and a little intense — but in the best way. It makes me feel grounded and connected, like I’m drinking something with soul.

I like to have it dark, smooth and unbothered by cream.

It doesn’t just wake me up — it brings me back to myself.

4. Nescafé 3-in-1 French Vanilla (Latte Vibes)

Nescafe 3 in 1 French Vanilla Coffee

When I want my coffee to taste like a hug and a sweet nothing whispered at dawn, I go for this.

Nescafé’s French Vanilla 3-in-1 pack is a whole experience.

Creamy. Sweet. Soft vanilla notes. No guesswork. Just open, pour, stir, and sip your way into a better mood.

This is my “treat myself” coffee. My “I want to be cute and cozy” coffee. It’s perfect for rainy mornings, self-care evenings, taking a break at work or when I need to romanticize my life without spending $60 at a café.

Final Thoughts: Coffee Is My Ritual, Not Just a Drink

It’s the way I ease into the day. The way I ground myself.

Some people meditate. Some people pray. I do both — but right afterwards it's followed by that first glorious cup.

Each of my favorite coffees meets a different version of me:

  • Folgers meets me in my soft, slow mornings.

  • Donut Shop pods meet me in my productive flow.

  • Hong Wing meets me in my grounded, no-nonsense mood.

  • Nescafé 3-in-1 meets me in my soft-girl era.

And that is the kind of versatility I expect in my life — and in my coffee....What's your favorite coffee??

At 5am on the cold rainy morning all there is to do is pull that warm fluffy blanket and snuggle up under it for the best sleep that makes you run late for work or even wanna "call in sick!!!". But such is just a faint memory of a time when life was simple. A memory that has now turned into wishful thinking. Now, its being woken every 2 hrs throughtout the night by the unrehearsed vocals of my 3 mth old trying to hit Celine Dion's high notes. Its trying to make formula with eyes that refuse to open at the odd hrs of the night. For those desparate times means desparate measures. Thats when colcafe 3 in …
